Episode Summary

One Left One entered hashing by instruction rather than invitation: when Chase Manhattan posted him to Seoul in 1975, his country manager told him Wednesday Hash was where many multinational clients gathered. The selective expatriate club limited American membership and brought together bankers, diplomats, businesspeople, and other nationalities in a social network that reflected its time and place.

After returning to California, he helped build the Long Beach Hash and became part of its unusually democratic, well-documented culture.
