Episode Summary
DFL Anal Corn discovered Eugene Hash in 2014 while studying journalism at the University of Oregon. A friend promised people running around a park drinking beer; the small, close-knit, “hippie” kennel gave him a community he had not found elsewhere. A larger Portland toga hash then revealed the scale, songs, and theatrical energy possible beyond Eugene.
Returning to his hometown, he founded the Salem Hash and became its GM and president-for-life, building an eight-year club through personal money, labor, social media, and persistent recruitment. He speaks openly about naming, leadership conflicts, race, politics, COVID isolation, online visibility, and the emotional cost of keeping a small kennel alive. His journalism instincts and enormous Facebook network have also made him an informal chronicler and connector across the wider hash world.
