Episode Summary

MeMe’s first trail was in Bandung, Indonesia, on Independence Day in 1992. The Monday-afternoon kennel ran through jungle and rice paddies, with drivers eliminating concerns about getting home afterward. An awkward encounter with a senior colleague at the finish discouraged him from staying for circle, and it was not until 1999, while studying at Cranfield University, that he gave hashing another try with Milton Keynes H3.

He volunteered to hare almost immediately, was named and then renamed, and took over On-Sec duties within weeks. His career in aircraft design subsequently carried him to projects and kennels across Britain, Germany, Finland, Austria, France and Turkey. MeMe compares urban and rural British traditions, recalls memorable hares and events and describes the trails he prefers to set. Now based in Turkey, he discusses finding and supporting local hashing, travelling when work permits and why a flexible international community has remained part of his life for more than three decades.
