Episode Summary

Uncle Gerry began with Singapore’s Monday men’s hash in 1970 after a flying instructor claimed it was too tough for an Englishman. The challenge worked: he joined a closed, 120-member club and explored an island still rich in jungle, rubber, palms, swamps, and reservoirs. Hashing strengthened his confidence and connected him with prominent early characters across Southeast Asia.

Back in Britain, Gerry became the founder of UK Nash Hash, creating a national gathering that has continued for decades, and helped write memorable entertainment including the “Rocky Hollow Show” at Cyprus Interhash.
