Episode Summary

Cougar entered hashing through her sister, Mrs. Robinson, co-haring her sister’s farewell trail with Toronto’s Hogtown H3 in 1999. Big Stones began in a very different fashion: after driving two hours from Big Stone Gap, Virginia, he found himself as the only member of the pack chasing a rollerblading hare around Knoxville. Grateful that anyone had attended, the tiny kennel named him on the spot. Hashing later gave him an immediate social network during short-term physical-therapy assignments across the United States.

The couple trace their separate hashing lives through Toronto, Memphis, Virginia, Pennsylvania, western New York and numerous travel events before explaining how hashing eventually brought them together. Cougar discusses her years on Hogtown and TWAT mismanagement, helping preserve the women’s kennel and creating Toronto’s Pink Dress Run to benefit breast-cancer research. Big Stones recounts organizing campouts and the adventures—and occasional disasters—of hosting visiting hashers. Together they consider relationships, respectful circle culture, changing social standards and how their binational hashing life eventually led them to Asheville, North Carolina.
