Episode Summary
Sweet Transvestite discovered hashing as a young U.S. Air Force lieutenant at Osan, Korea, in August 1994. He joined the Bulgogi Hash’s 300th run, where red helium balloons bobbing above runners through the Songtan market created an unforgettable first impression. During a one-year remote tour, the hash supplied adventure, friendship, and a place to exercise his talent for elaborate naming stories.
Later assignments took him to Florida, Italy, Germany, and other military communities, where he helped establish and strengthen kennels, hare trails, and lead circles. He discusses the evolution of his own name, the logistical realities of starting clubs near overseas bases, large events and international travel, and the lasting value of a worldwide network that could turn each new posting into a recognizable social home.
