Hazukashii returns to discuss his two great hashing pursuits: travelling the world and documenting its history. Since leaving behind his job, house and possessions, he has travelled through dozens of countries and hundreds of kennels. At the time of this interview, his records included hashing in 124 countries with more than 420 clubs—statistics he began tracking decades ago while teaching himself how to use spreadsheets.
The central subject is the difference between popular hash mythology and the evidence preserved in early records. Hazukashii examines the people involved in the original Kuala Lumpur group, the influence of earlier paper-chase traditions, the interruption caused by the Second World War and the postwar spread of hashing.
